Oh wow, where do i Begin? 27th of August 2016, Burlesque L'amour show After dark. 80 Perfomers over 350 audience members and a whole lot of Glitter!!!! This show meant the absolute world to me and its a night i will never ever forget. So i would like to take you all on a little Journey through the eyes of the show director your in for a wild ride...
All of you know me so well and I'm sure you have all realised now that i am quite a relaxed and easy going personality type. But boy was my heart racing this day. With every year comes more pressure to put on a fantastic show. And i knew we were all prepared and ready to smash it and i was so keen to make sure everything was perfect, especially for all of my performers, my performers who are also my closest friends and i would hate to let them down. So 6am rise and shine. With my mammoth costume bag already packed, i loaded the car and headed straight to the studio to collect 2 ute loads of props. Next stop was to the venue, ready to start the set up of 35 tables and over 350 chairs, lighting, back drops, costume stands, music playlists, sound checks and stage props, table decor.. this i would never have been able to do without helping hands and one particular incredible human made this process so breezy for me and that was our GORGEOUS DJ. He just powered though with the help of our very own Dapper dan with the set up.. His words were "I've got this Jord, Go relax" those words meant more than anyone could ever imagine on a day like this. So off i went to get all Glamed up by more Gorgeous dancer and friend Carla. While she turned me into a picture of glamour, My gorgeous Teenage students fed me some pizza to make sure i had eaten something before the show had started. The love i have for these kids is incredible and soon enough they will be sharing the stage with us!
Shortly after, my wonderful students all started arriving looking a million dollars. Seeing everyone arrive so confidently and happy and excited bought tears to my eyes. I was starting to calm down now as i suddenly realised what this meant to me. Dancing on stage with 80 of my Closest friends and empowering them all to get up there and own the stage. The more relaxed and confident i was the smoother this show would run.... And my beautiful friends arriving to the venue bought me back to this happy place. I was ready to go! I quickly ran over in my head the 13 routines i was dancing in for the night and did a lap around to see how everyone was going backstage....
There were laughs, Champagne and cheese floating around back stage and lots of cuddles and support from one another. You Ladies and gentleman were so ready for this show... A quick pep talk to you all and we were ready to let our Audiences in! In they flocked thick and fast super keen to see their loved ones on stage... 350 of our friends and family filled the theatre... we sold out so quickly there was no chance to sell to the public! half an hour passed , I could hear them getting louder and louder, more and more bottles popping. This is great news for us performers, the more relaxed the audience is, the louder they will cheer for us. One look out of the curtain and in the distance i saw a lady stand up and perform a quick shimmy for her table. I knew it was time. They were ready for us and we were ready for them! a few more shots of vodka from myself and a few backstage and Out our Gorgoues MC DOC went and started the show. The first act was our Eumundi troupe aka Sparkle Kartel.... And man did they open the show with a BANG. For me it is always so nerve racking to hear the reaction from the first dance. In the wings i stood trying to get a glimpse of the audiences faces.. The song ended and they erupted with Applause. A sigh of relief for the girls and myself... I Knew this was going to be a successful night... and just like that the show carried on. With a few mishaps backstage and some stressful moments, before we knew it, it was half time. A quick chat from mum and she was so happy! from the audiences point of view the show was running so smoothly.
The second half flew by and was just as popular with the crowd as the first half. They just kept wanting more. For me the show felt like it was over in a matter of minutes as i took my position for the finale, i didn't want it to end! I made sure i held on to that moment for as long as i could... And just like that the show was over. A curtain call then conclude the show and some wonderful words from our dancers. I was spoilt with gifts and i cannot thank my students enough, you ladies and gents being in my life and making my dreams a reality is more than enough. I have to pinch myself sometimes. I promise from the bottom of my heart as long as you are all still with me i will continue to provide you with as many opportunities as i can. I will pass on my love of dance with you all and we will all dance on stage side by side for many years to come. We will continue to empower one another and build on our already unbreakable bond. WE ARE BURLESQUE LAMOUR, YOU ARE ALL THE DEFINITION OF BURLESQUE LAMOUR.. And i thank you so much for this.
The weekend passes and i have never had so much positive feed back. The Audience loved it. Our most Professional show yet were their words. This makes me so PROUD. You ladies smashed it. So whats next?
A BIGGER AND BETTER SHOW, Possibly even 2 or more? with the same fun loving sexy individuals involved plus some gorgeous new faces. Our new routines and looking amazing and we really pumping them out. And our new Magic mike boys are sure to bring something new to out shows... ladies i can not wait for you to see them! They are beautiful boys and are just so much fun and doing so well. Thank you so much to Dapper Dan also for being our first male performer, you have opened so many opportunities to our show and are an incredible teacher and mentor to our new boys!
Thank you all for trusting me and being apart of this incredible journey, we are all so lucky! Bring on 2017 show! Watch this space. Its going to be HUGE !
